Ramaphosa describes the late Prince Philip as ‘a remarkable figure’

President Cyril Ramaphosa has added his voice to the contingent of international leaders to send their condolences to Queen Elizabeth ll and the people of the United Kingdom on the passing of Prince Philip.
The Duke of Edinburgh died on Friday at the age of 99 after he was recently hospitalised and underwent a successful heart procedure.
Ramaphosa described Prince Phillip as a “remarkable figure”.
“President Ramaphosa says South Africa’s thoughts and prayers are with Her Majesty, the Royal Family, the Government and people of the United Kingdom as they mourn their loss,” said the Presidency’s acting spokesperson Tyrone Seale.
“Prince Philip was a remarkable public figure who lived an extraordinary life and who will be fondly remembered by many people around the world,” Seal added.
As the husband of Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Philip was the longest-serving consort in the history of the British monarchy.
Earlier, leaders from Kenya, the United States, India, Canada and Ireland were among those to share their memories of Prince Philip.
