Ramaphosa institutes probe into Khehla Sitole’s fitness to hold office

President Cyril Ramaphosa has instituted an inquiry to probe Police Commissioner Khehla Sitole's fitness to hold office.
This after Sitole was handed a letter of intention to suspend him last month pending an investigation into his conduct.
Ramaphosa wrote to Sitole on 20 September after he allegedly failed to cooperate with the Independent Police Investigative Directorate in their probe.
He was given 14 days to respond.
Sitole came under fire earlier this year when the High Court found that he faced a conflict of interest.
“These allegations emerged publicly and became the subject of a finding by Judge Dennis Davis in the Pretoria High Court. The President has indicated to the National Commissioner that the issues arising from the High Court judgment are serious,” said spokesperson to the Presidency, Tyrone Seale on Thursday.
It’s understood Sitole has made representations.
“While the President considers these representations, further engagement on this matter will be between the President and the National Commissioner.”
