Ramaphosa: 'No brainer' that Zuma should testify at Eskom inquiry
Updated | By Jacaranda FM News
Deputy President,Cyril Ramaphosa says he does not see any reason why President Jacob Zuma should not testify at the Parliamentary inquiry into alleged state capture at Eskom.
He made the remarks during an engagement with journalists at parliament on Thursday.
The committee heard evidence by former Eskom chairperson Zola Tsotsi last week, implicating Zuma in the suspension of four of the power utility's executives in 2014.
Ramaphosa says current leaders should follow the example set by former president Nelson Mandela.
"Nelson Mandela went to court as President and sought to demonstrate that even as you are head of the state, you should never be above the law. And when an institution of a state like a court subpoena you, you should go and testify."

Ramaphosa says all leaders should be prepared to be held accountable.
"I went to the Farlam commission, I was Deputy President and I was not absolved from going there and be accountable. When you occupy a position of trust where you have been put by the people, you should be willing and able to demonstrate that indeed you are willing to subject yourself to the norms and rules of accountability."
