Ramaphosa proposes a national day of prayer over coronavirus
Updated | By Jacaranda FM News
President Cyril Ramaphosa is calling for a national day of
prayer to reflect on the outbreak of COVID-19.
The ministry of health announced on Wednesday that 116 people in the country are infected with the virus.
Ramaphosa proposed the day of pray during his opening remarks and ahead of his meeting with religious leaders at the Sefako Makgatho Presidential Guesthouse in Tshwane.
"This disease knows no boundaries, or race, or class, but it is the poor and the vulnerable that would need us the most. The majority of South Africans are driven by faith in everything they do," says Ramaphosa.
Ramaphosa envisions for South Africans to pause on the day and set aside time to pray in solidarity with those who are infected and affected by the virus.
The president is meeting with religious leaders about government measures implemented to mitigate the spread of the coronavirus during the upcoming Easter weekend.
