[WATCH LIVE] Ramaphosa set to address nation on Covid-19 ahead of festive rush
Updated | By Nokukhanya N Mntambo
President Cyril Ramaphosa has called another family meeting for Thursday evening.
This comes after a special sitting of Cabinet that considered recommendations of the National Coronavirus Command Council (NCCC).
South Africans are waiting with bated breath to hear whether stricter restrictions will be imposed to avoid a second wave of Covid-19 infections in the country.
Some of the measures under consideration include changing the curfew from midnight to 10pm.
The restriction on the sale of alcohol over weekends is believed to make its return.
In the last national address by the President at least 3 weeks ago, Ramaphosa made minor concessions on alcohol and international travel.
But as the country prepares for the festive season, government may need to tighten protocols to keep infections at bay.
Ramaphosa is expected to speak at 20:00.
