Ramaphosa: 'South Africa's future lies in Africa'

Ramaphosa used the occasion to discuss the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and to look forward to South Africa's chairship of the African Union (AU).
President Cyril Ramaphosa says "South Africa's future lies in Africa."
This was the over-arching message of Ramaphosa's second weekly newsletter, From the desk of the President.
Ramaphosa was reflecting on the President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari's recent state visit.

He says it is through our trade with the rest of the continent that we will grow our industries.
"The African marketplace is where our companies will increasingly find trading and investment opportunities. It is expected that over the next few decades there will be a massive increase in investment in infrastructure across Africa, which should benefit South African construction companies, manufacturers and banks," noted Ramaphosa.
He used the occasion to discuss the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and to look forward to South Africa's chairship of the African Union (AU).
"In that role, we will have a great responsibility to guide the implementation of the agreement on the Continental Free Trade Area. We will need to work to turn aspirations into action," says Ramaphosa.
