Ramaphosa tells diplomats energy crisis impacting every aspect of life in SA

President Cyril Ramaphosa has told international diplomats that government’s most immediate and pressing task is to solve the load shedding crisis.
Ramaphosa was speaking on Tuesday during a ceremony where he received letters of credence from Heads of Mission-Designate at a credentials ceremony in Pretoria. .
The president said the energy crisis is impacting every aspect of life in South Africa.
“You begin your appointments in South Africa at an important time for our country. Like nations across the world, we are working to rebuild in the wake of COVID-19 which made many of our economic and social challenges far worse. These efforts to rebuild are being held back by a severe energy crisis that has affected every aspect of life in this country”.
Ramaphosa reiterated that government is working to ensure energy security into the future.
“Therefore, our most immediate and pressing task is to stabilise the supply of electricity in our country and to ensure energy security into the future. We are therefor focused on several measures to sustainably improve the performance of our existing power station and bringing additional generation capacity online.”
