Steenhuisen addressed a voter registration event hosted by the parties signed up to the Multi-Party Charter in Johannesburg on Thursday.

Steenhuisen said Ramaphosa can already sense that he won’t return to the Union Buildings after the elections.

"This man who calls himself the president of South Africa never does anything. He makes promises, but he never delivers anything.

"He is scared because he knows in seven days’ time, he will be delivering his last State of Nation Address.”

Ramaphosa has yet to proclaim the date for the 2024 general elections.

"He is so terrified of all of us coming together from different parties, putting our differences aside and working together towards a common goal because we love our country and we are going to rescue the country,” Steenhuisen said.

At the same event, IFP leader Velenkosini Hlabisa said South Africa could secure change by removing the ANC from power for the first time since 1994.

Hlabisa said the united coalition of opposition parties stands ready to form a new government.

"As we gather here today, we are driven by the belief that South Africa can secure change for the better, and we believe it can be done now.

"2024 is the moment for South Africans to fundamentally change the trajectory of our country by unseating the ANC government and empowering the new government, the Multi-Party Charter.”
