Ramaphosa move into the Union Buildings was not an exactly an easy one, as former president Jacob Zuma clung onto power amidst corruption allegation and a failing economy.

Lecturer at the Department of Political Studies at Unisa, Professor Dirk Kotze, says Ramaphosa's 100 days at the helm has had hits and misses but his efforts at economic renewal supersedes any failures.

"He presented a new enthusiasm about the South African economy, he tried to develop a sentiment of more confidence in the South African economy. The response from outside is relatively positive," says  Kotze.

Kotze believes Ramaphosa has also made massive strides in the fight against corruption and state capture.

The internal factions and allegations of corruption within the African National Congress (ANC) are some of the biggest headaches facing the Ramaphosa presidency, says Kotze.

"Especially at the level of provinces and the equality of service delivery at the local government level."

Kotze believes the relative success of Ramaphosa's 100 days will also have an impact on next year's elections.
