Rand Water implements more water restrictions in Gauteng
Updated | By Eva Chipa
Water utility Rand Water has issued a 20% water restriction notice to
municipalities across Gauteng, including Johannesburg.
The network is under severe pressure as demand continues to exceed supply.
“Rand Water told us that these restrictions come from a high-water demand, I think it’s also because of the rise in temperatures at the moment. Rand Water has indicated that there is quite a lot of pressure on their system which affects our ability to get water to residents,” says Johannesburg Water spokesperson Eleanor Mavimbela.

Rand Water also had a power supply issue at their Zuikerbosch purification works on Thursday which negatively impacted on their Palmiet pumping system that feeds their Meyers Hill reservoir which supplies our South Hills tower.
