Rand Water maintenance to resume in Tshwane on Monday
Updated | By Princess Mahogo
Tshwane has warned residents of several areas in the city to brace themselves for water interruptions on Monday.
Rand Water is set to resume its extensive infrastructure maintenance campaign.
The maintenance work will affect reservoirs supplied by the Palmiet and Mapleton systems.
The reservoirs will be affected on 15, 19, and 26 July and are expected to be completed on the 29th.
Rand Water began the five-week maintenance campaign on 1 July.
The planned maintenance aims to preserve the lifespan of the water utility’s infrastructure and improve its reliability during the higher summer demand period.
Tshwane spokesperson Lindela Mashigo said the maintenance programme has been successful and has not led to any major water supply interruptions.
“During the upkeep period, the affected reservoirs will be filled to maximum capacity prior to the maintenance work, where possible. However, water supply may be interrupted, and residents are therefore urged to use water sparingly.
“The city’s 18 reservoirs that are supplied by Rand Water’s Palmiet System will be affected on 15 July 2024 (pumping will be at 68% for two days) and 29 July 2024 (pumping will be at 76%).”
