Rand Water: Mapleton pump station operating at full capacity again
Updated | By Princess Mahogo
Rand Water says electricity has been restored at its Mapleton pumping station following Wednesday’s power outage.
The power failure left residents in several areas of Ekurhuleni and Tshwane battling water shortages.
The entity's spokesperson Makenosi Maroo says the outage resulted in reservoirs and towers being unable pump and supply water to several suburbs.
“Eskom technicians were called, they worked overnight, eventually the system was restored and we are pumping to full capacity.
“However it takes time for us to go back to where we were to refill the system. So, some areas will be impacted but we are working towards refilling our reservoirs.
This incident has resulted in a decline of Rand Water’s reservoirs in Brakpan, Vlakfontein and Bronberge, Selcourt, Stompies and Wildebeestfontein.
