Rand Water planned maintenance to hit Sandton, Midrand

Rand Water will carry out infrastructure maintenance at its Palmiet System, which supplies Johannesburg Water’s Sandton and Midrand regions.

The project will start on 25 January and run until 26 January.
In a statement, Johannesburg Water said the two-day maintenance will focus on repairing a leak in their O2 pipeline.
During the maintenance, the water supply will be closed to access and carry out the necessary work within the pipeline.
“Johannesburg Water’s areas that will be impacted include the Sandton systems, as well as some Midrand systems, including Klipfontein View, Allandale, President Park, Halfway House, as well as Diepsloot.
“The abovementioned work will affect pumping on the O2 pipeline, and in turn, Johannesburg Water customers will receive low pressure to no water supply.
“This serves as an early reminder for consumers to plan storage of water close to the time and to use alternative means like rainwater harvesting to store rainwater for nonconsumption use.”
It added that alternative water supply and roaming water tankers will be supplied where needed.
