The water utility’s team of technicians will be finalising a tie-in of the newly installed S4 water pipeline.

The shutdown kicked off at 3am on Friday and last for 30 hours till 9am on Saturday.

Tshwane spokesperson Lindela Mashigo says several reservoirs will be affected.

“As a result of this planned work, there will be no water supply from Rand Water’s Vlakfontein Reservoir to Tshwane and should the water utility’s supply run empty, their recovery time will be approximately two weeks. Residents are thus urged to use water sparingly during this time to prevent reservoirs from running dry.”

Areas that will be affected include  Elardus Park Reservoir, Garsfontein Reservoir, Eersterust Reservoir, Kilner Park Reservoir,  Koedoesnek LL Reservoir.

Later on Friday, Rand Water is also expected to implement a further 39-hour planned maintenance of its M9 pipeline from the Brakpan reservoir to the Selcourt reservoir in the Ekurhuleni Metropolitian Municipality.

This is scheduled to kick off at 6pm on Friday and last till 9am on Sunday.

The planned maintenance will affect several areas across the municipality.
