A Randburg police constable is expected to appear in court on Tuesday on charges of rape, robbery and kidnapping, the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (Ipid) said.
"These alleged crimes were committed between 2011 and 2012, in and around Tembisa, Olifantsfontein, Ivory Park, Randburg and other areas," spokesman Moses Dlamini said on Monday.
"The case was investigated by the Ipid and has resulted in it making recommendations to prosecute to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP). The DPP has agreed and decided to prosecute."
The 30-year-old constable faces 14 counts of rape, nine of robbery and 14 of kidnapping.
"The suspect has been in custody since he was arrested in July 2012.
He applied unsuccessfully for bail on numerous occasions," he said.
