Randburg shooter hands himself over to cops
Updated | By Bronwyn Hardick
A man who allegedly shot and wounded two people in Windsor East near Randburg on Thursday has handed himself in, said police.
"He just handed himself over at the Linden police station," said Constable Ndivhuwo Mulamu.
Earlier reports had suggested that three people were injured in the shooting.
Makamu said the suspect had been involved in an argument with a man at a house in Windsor East.
The suspect left the scene and later returned with a knobkerrie.
"He wanted to beat up the uncle of the man he was fighting with earlier and community members intervened," said Makamu.
"The man then went to his car and returned with a firearm. He started shooting randomly and the two people were injured."
The suspect fired a shot that hit his friend who had accompanied him to the house.
"He hit his friend in the upper body," said Makamu.
A passerby was also shot in the leg.
A total of three shots were fired, said Makamu.
The shooter would be charged with attempted murder.
