Rape-accused North West councillor to apply for bail

Suspended ANC councillor, Tebogo Sepale, will appear in the Orkney Magistrate’s Court in November for a formal bail application.
The 43-year-old politician from Matlosana Local Municipality in Klerksdorp faces charges of rape, statutory rape, violating a child without consent, manufacturing pornographic material and sexual intimidation.
NPA spokesperson Henry Mamothame said Sepale previously registered an intention to apply for bail but opted to abandon the application.
"The state was ready to propose a date for the matter to be transferred to a higher court for pretrial conferencing, as investigations have been completed. The transfer will now await the completion of the bail application, which the state intends opposing," said Mamothame.
