Rapist falls asleep in victim's bed
A 26-year-old suspect has been arrested for raping
52-year-old women and falling asleep in her bed afterwards.
Police spokesperson, Moatshe Ngoepe, says the suspect was arrested at an informal settlement in the area outside Bela-Bela on Sunday.
Ngoepe says it is alleged that the suspect broke into the woman's room when night fell and raped her.
"Soon after the act, he fell asleep and the victim managed to run away and summoned the police.
"The police reacted swiftly and arrested the suspect while still sleeping in the victim's bed," says Ngoepe.
Ngoepe adds preliminary investigations have revealed that the suspect has a prior record and was once sentenced to six months imprisonment for housebreaking and theft.
The suspect is expected to appear before the Thabazimbi Magistrate court soon and police investigations are still continuing.
