The Grahamstown High Court judge has sent an Eastern Cape serial rapist to prison for an indefinite period.
Judge Thamie Mbashe convicted 29-year-old Lonwabo Solontsi on 39 counts of rape, 14 counts of aggravated robbery, seven counts of robbery as well as a total of seven counts of housebreaking with intent to rape.
Solontsi's crime spree was conducted between November 2010 and July 2015 and spanned three provinces, namely the Eastern Cape, Western Cape and Northern Cape.
His application for leave to appeal was also denied.
NPA Eastern Cape spokesperson Tsepo Ndwalaza says an 'indefinite' sentence is not a common occurrence.
