Rapist sentenced to 15 years imprisonment in KwaZulu-Natal

The Verulam Magistrate’s Court sentenced a man to 15 years imprisonment for rape of an eight-year-old girl, KwaZulu-Natal police said on Wednesday.

Major Thulani Zwane said Nkosingiphile Goge, 27, was convicted and sentenced on Tuesday.

 

“On 27 October 2014 the victim was on her way to school when the suspect intercepted and forced her to the nearest bushes where he raped her.”

 

Zwane added that the man used his hand and closed the victim’s mouth to prevent her from screaming while he raped her, and he promised to give her R10 every morning on her way to school.

 

”After the incident the victim ran onto the road, crying and was approached by two females who noticed that she was not okay. One of the ladies took the victim to her house where she explained what had happened to her. ”

 

Zwane said a case of rape was opened by Tongaat police. The rapist was arrested by patrolling police around the Magwaveni area, the victim identified him as he was still wearing the same clothes. -ANA
