The Rea Vaya speed bus service has been suspended after two bus drivers were shot and killed in Soweto on Monday evening.

Gauteng police spokesperson Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi says the drivers were killed behind the steering wheel of the buses in the two separate incidents.
"On the first incident, it is reported that the driver had stopped at a robot along Wildchestnut street in Protea when he was shot and killed by unknown suspects.
"On the second incident at Tshithuthune Street, the eyewitness reported that he was the last passenger on the bus when he heard gunshots and took cover. After it got quiet, he realised that the driver was shot, he tried to drive the bus but crashed into a wall. The driver was declared dead on the scene and the passenger sustained no injuries.
"In both incidents, the motive is unknown at this stage and police investigations continue."
Rea Vaya spokesperson Benny Mokgoga told Jacaranda FM News on Tuesday morning that the motive for the shooting was not yet established.
Commuters have been urged to use alternative public transport, and Rea Vaya has vowed to provide regular updates on the situation.
Rea Vaya Passengers are advised that buses are temporarily suspended until further notice due to shooting incidences to bus drivers that happened last night in Soweto. We advise passengers to use alternative public transport. Regular updates on the situation will be given.
