President Cyril Ramaphosa has confirmed he has received the final reports of the Nugent Commission of Inquiry into Tax Administration and Governance at SARS.

“The president is studying the report and will apply his mind to its detailed recommendations,” the Presidency said in a statement on Friday.
Retired judge Robert Nugent probed tax governance and administration under former SARS commissioner Tom Moyane's administration.
The interim report recommends that Moyane be fired immediately.
In the final reports of 200-pages, Moyane features over 233 times.
“There can be little doubt that the catastrophe at SARS is attributable to a massive failure of elementary principles of governance coupled with pervasive breaches of integrity,” reads a recommendation, with Moyane at the helm of the alleged improper conduct.
Nugent also recommended a possible appointment of an oversight board to assist SARS.
“[An] oversight board of independent outsiders as a mechanism for enhancing governance at their tax collecting institutions.”
