READ: Pule Mabe’s former PA accuses ANC of ‘only ticking boxes’
Updated | By Sinethemba Madolo
The woman who accused ANC spokesperson Pule Mabe of sexually harassing her has rejected the findings of the party’s grievance panel.
In a statement released on Thursday, Kgoerano Kekana expresses her disappointment at the way in which events transpired.
The grievance panel, which was chaired by former Cosatu president Sdumo Dlamini, found there was no evidence of sexual harassment.
Kekana, who was Mabe’s personal assistant, says although she appreciates the process that taken she does not agree with the outcome.
"In my grievance letter to Comrade Jessie Duarte (Deputy Secretary General of the ANC), I stated I was harassed by repeatedly and demeaned by Pule Mabe. My witnesses were in a position to collaborate this, However, only one of 8 of them were called.
“Incredibly I was not informed when this one witness was called, and I thus have no knowledge of what she said. The report merely states her name and nothing about her evidence," Kekana says.
The panel absolved Mabe while at the same time recommending that the ANC adopt a sexual harassment policy within the next three months.

"The ANC should do training for all its management and staff in offices throughout the country on this policy, address the human resource issues raised during the grievance procedure, and ensure the complainant’s reintegration as an employee of the ANC," the panel said.
Kekana says it is disturbing that the ANC does not have a policy on sexual harassment.
"This is disturbing because my organisation and political home that is a leader of society has proclaimed on numerous occasions to espouse the principles equality, non-sexism, and equity."
Kekana believes the fact that there is no opportunity to appeal means that the party was only "simply trying to tick the boxes".
Kekana says her legal team is exploring other avenues, including approaching the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA).
