Deputy Minister of Police, Cassel Mathale says the police are ready to combat protests by truck drivers who threaten to block roads.
The Truckers Association of South Africa (TASA) has threatened a protest over the alleged unfair treatment of South African drivers.
Mathale says it is not appropriate for truck drivers to blockade a road if they have a problem with either their employer, government or anyone.
He says police will respond accordingly to ensure that there are no disruptions on the roads.
"I'm certain that they won't be any disruption. We are ready, we will respond accordingly to anybody who behaves in a manner that will make it difficult for South Africans to drive around the country," says Mathale.
He was engaging with members of the media after handing over a newly built home to a GBV survivor at Ga-Molepo in Polokwane, Limpopo today.
