South Africans should refuse and report bad service from public servants, Public Service and Administration Minister Lindiwe Sisulu said on Sunday.
"South Africans must refuse bad service, they only deserve the best service," she said in a statement on United Nations public service day.
"I call on all South Africans to report public servants across all spheres of government who do not follow Batho Pele [People First] principles and also engage in unethical and corrupt activities...."
She said citizens should partner with the government to build a "clean, accountable government".
Sisulu said a lot had been done since 1994 to meet people's basic needs, but that a lot still had to be done.
"As we approach 20 years of our democracy, I would like to commit all public servants to work hard and fast track service delivery," she said.
"I call on all South Africans to join us as we intensify our fight against maladministration and corruption, set new standards for the public service and transform the public service into an efficient system for implementation of the National Development Plan."
Sisulu said it was important to recognise those public servants who were hard-working.
