Collection of refuse had been disrupted in certain areas of Randburg, Pikitup said Thursday.
The disruption was due to labour relations matters between workers and management, said Pikitup spokeswoman Desiree Ntshingila.
"There has been a go-slow at the Randburg depot since Tuesday 17, which has resulted in service interruptions."
Ntshingila said Pikitup had put in place measures to collect waste in the affected areas.
The areas were Kensington B, Jackal Creek, Ferndale, Malanshof, Randpark, Fountainblue, Kelland, Robinhills, Windsor East, Windsor Glen, Cresta, Dainfern-Highate, Cosmo City, Robindale, Jhb North and Kyasands.
It was unclear as to how long the workers would be on a go slow strike.
"We are appealing to stakeholders to be patient until the labour unrest is resolved."
Management was in talks with the workers to resolve the matter, said Ntshingila.
