Religious gatherings to resume under level 3

The government has given the green light for places of worship to resume with their services under level 3 of the lockdown.
South Africa is set to move to level 3 of the lockdown on Monday.
In a televised address on Tuesday, President Cyril Ramaphosa said the gatherings will be limited to 50 people or less.
“Places of worship may reopen subject to strict restrictions, which are absolute necessary if we are to prevent infections from rising in accordance with norms and standards that will be set out in the regulations.

“Churches, synagogues, mosques and impels may resume services but these will be limited in size with 50 people or less depending on the space available.”
Amid the rising rate of Covid-19 infections, worshippers will have to observe social distancing and wear face masks as per the regulations.
As of Monday night, the number of Covid-19 infections stood at 23 615, while the number of deaths related to the virus stood at 481.
