Report attempted child thefts
Updated | By Suné du Toit
Police in Pretoria have called on parents to report any child snatching attempts.
Social media is buzzing with reports of suspects trying to steal children at various locations in the east of Pretoria, but Garsfontein Police say these have not yet been reported and are not on their records.
Meanwhile, Warrant Officer David Miller has confirmed that they are investigating a case at a shopping centre, in the Moreleta Park area.
According to Miller, the mother was busy at a shopping centre and it was alleged that one of the suspects picked up her child.
"She then got the child back from the gentleman. From there they hung around a bit and she eventually managed to get them to leave," Miller said.
Miller says people should report incidents to police and not on social media.
"When we make a breakthrough in a case and we arrest people, we have no cases to charge them with."
