Kya Sands residents to march against employment of illegal foreigners

A large group of residents from Kya Sands are expected to march against the employment of undocumented foreign nationals in the Kya Sand industrial area, northwest of Johannesburg.
The protestors are expected to hand over a memorandum of demands to the local Home Affairs and Labour Department offices.
The protest action is expected to affect the suburbs of Bloubosrand, Kya Sands, North Riding, and Randburg.
Johannesburg metro police spokesperson Xolani Fihla says officers are monitoring the protest.
"There is a planned protest march by the Combat Movement Kya Sands Msawawa branch, the approved march is taking place within the Kya Sand and industrial area and the Kya Sand Taxi Rank.
"Approximately, 1,000 participants have embarked on their march, the main roads which will be temporarily affected in the area are Malibongwe Drive Aspen Avenue and River Road as the participants make their way to the industrial area and the taxi rank."
"We are expecting the participant to disperse at 2:30 in the afternoon and motorists are urged to be patient when encountering any traffic disruptions in the area," said Fihla.
