Cooperative Governance Minister Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma on Thursday gazetted the new regulations under level 3 of the lockdown.

The amendments allow cinemas, restaurants, theatres and casinos to operate under strict Covid-19 health and safety measures.

But the association’s Wendy Alberts says the portion of regulations speaking to the restaurant industry is vague.

“The regulations read: ‘Restaurants, subject to the strict adherence to all health protocols and social distancing measures as provided for in directions that must be issued by the responsible cabinet member, after consultation with the cabinet member responsible for health’."

“Regrettably, this is very vague and is not what we expected.”

The association's attorney will be writing to the Dlamini-Zuma to seek further around the amended regulations.
