Restaurant Association: 100 people limit a blow to industry
Updated | By Sibahle Motha
The Restaurants Association of South Africa has described the decision by the government to limit the number of people inside restaurants to 100 as a huge blow to the industry.

The organisation's CEO Wendy Alberts says the industry has written to the Minister of Tourism Mmamoloko Kubayi-Ngubane to urgently intervene.
“We have obviously been hit with a blow that we will only be allowed to have numbers of 100 within all our establishment. This has really become a really problematic announcement for us.
"We have contacted the office of the Minister of Tourism to have a conversation of ways we can be responsible around the number. There are establishments who can take a higher number in excess of 1000. We are trying to be responsible and play our role.”

On Monday evening, President Cyril Ramaphosa announced further restrictions to curb the spread of Covid-19.
This includes a new curfew of between 23:00 and 04:00.
Bars and restaurants will now only be allowed to sell alcohol between 10:00 and 18:00 only on Monday until Thursday.
The president said that restaurants will also have to close at 10pm in order for workers to reach their homes on time.
