Restaurants want evidence that selling alcohol with food heightens Covid-19 risk

The Restaurant Association is saying it wants evidence that there is a correlation between the sale of alcohol with food and the potential to spread Covid-19.
This after the Minister of Tourism, Mmamoloko Kubayi-Ngubane gave the industry the green light on Friday to offer sit-down services again, but not to sell alcohol for on-site consumption.
The Restaurant Associations' Wendy Alberts says they will be pushing for alcohol sales and consumption to be allowed as it is a major contributor to making restaurants profitable.

"We certainly need liquor to be a critical part of the next lev of opening," says Alberts.
"We certainly are calling for the evidence that we are high-risk in terms of the transmission by selling alcohol with your meal."
Alberts points out that restaurants pay a premium for liquor licenses that allow for alcohol consumption, and will still be subject tot the same regulatory restrictions regarding physical distancing, sanitizing, and the wearing of masks regardless of whether alcohol is consumed in restaurants.
