Rhodes students mourn the death of Khensani Maseko

Rhodes University Vice-Chancellor, Doctor Sizwe Mabizela, says the institution will requesting a full inquest into the death of third-year BA student, Kensani Khensani Maseko, who died in Johannesburg at the weekend.
Rhodes SRC said that her death appears to be related to her having been a survivor of sexual assault earlier this year.
Earlier, students gathered at Purple Square where Mabizela addressed them.
Rhodes spokesperson, Luzuko Jacobs, says academic activities were suspended for the day, while flags are flying at half-mast.
"We are looking into suspending the alleged perpetrator, it is a serious matter,' says Jacobs.

Meanwhile, a large group of students are protesting at Nelson Mandela University (NMU) over the alleged sexual assault of a female student by another student this weekend.
NMU says a case has been registered with the police.
Addressing the protesting students, Yandisa Jubase, says their protest is not only about this case but about security on campus in general.
