Roads closures for EFF’s birthday celebrations at FNB Stadium

The Johannesburg Metro Police (JMPD) has warned of various road closures due to the Economic Freedom Fighters' (EFF) 10 years celebration rally at FNB Stadium in Soweto.
Thousands of party members from the country’s nine provinces are set to fill the 95 000-capacity stadium on Saturday.
JMPD spokesperson, Xolani Fihla, says certain roads will be blocked off around the stadium precinct where the gates open at 8am.
The celebrations are set to continue till the early hours of Sunday morning.
"The following streets and freeways will be affected: Nasrec Road, Rifle Range Road, M1 South and North Freeway, N1 South and North Freeway, Landbou Road, Commerce
Street, Golden Highway, Aerodrome Road, Adcock Ingram Avenue, Soweto Highway, Booysens Reserve Road, Crownwood Road, Shaft 17, N17 Freeway, Pat Mbatha Bus Way,
Treu Road, Recreation Road, Jukskei Drive, Colorado Drive and Amethyst Road," says Fihla.
Fihla says Nasrec Road will be converted to form three lanes before, during, and after the celebrations.
"This will be from Adcock Ingram Road to Recreation Road on the Southern Side of the stadium and from the N17 traffic circle to Shaft 17 on the Northern side of the stadium."
Soweto Highway will be closed off to traffic from 06h00 between the N1 bridge and Mentz Street in Booysens.
"Other road closures will be implemented at Nasrec Road and Shaft 17, Nasrec Road and Booysens Reserve Road, Nasrec Road and Landbou Road, Nasrec Road and Recreation
Road, Booysens Reserve Road and Crownwood Road Crownwood Road and Amethyst Road, Booysens Reserve Road and League Avenue,Pat Mbatha Bus Way and Treu Road," adds Fihla.
