Gauteng police are searching for an unknown number of
cash-in-transit robbers who struck in Hammanskraal on Wednesday morning.
Provincial police spokesperson Amanda van Wyk said the driver of a cash van and two crew members were driving along Hamman Road from the N1 when a group of armed suspects rammed into the van.
The suspects fired shots at the cash van before blowing it up.
Van Wyk said they managed to flee with an undisclosed amount of money.
"Just two weeks ago, police foiled a planned CIT heist in Dobsonville and recovered three vehicles used during the commission of the crime as well as an R5 and three AK47 assault rifles; two suspects were fatally wounded during this incident."
