Rolling blackouts reduced to stage 3

Eskom has reduced loadshedding from stage 4 to stage 3 on Wednesday morning.
Stage 3 is expected to last until Friday morning.
The embattled power utility implemented stage 4 on Monday, saying it was due to additional breakdowns of about seven units at a number of power stations.
The latest power cuts come amid warnings by energy experts that the national grid is deteriorating year by year.
Eskom spokesperson Sikonathi Mantshantsha says some emergency reserves have shown significant progress over the past two days.
“Therefore, loadshedding will be reduced to Stage 3 from 05:00 on Wednesday 10 November until 05:00 on Friday. Thereafter Stage 2 loadshedding will continue as previously communicated until 05:00 on Saturday 13 November. It is necessary to continue with loadshedding in order to fully replenish the emergency generation reserves,”said Mantshantsha.
Total breakdowns currently amount to 12 709MW, while planned maintenance is 6 164MW of capacity.
