Rooihuikraal residents asked to immediately reduce water consumption

The Tshwane Metro has warned reservoir levels are critically low and residents might face water shortages if they do not cut their consumption.

Tshwane spokesperson Lindela Mashigo said on Saturday morning it was not clear yet exactly what led to the decrease in reservoir water levels.

"It can also be attributed to the fact that maybe residents took advantage of the fact that there are rains and therefore used water without conserving it."

He appealed to residents to continue using water sparingly, while the Metro waited for more information from the water utility services. 

The City of Tshwane warned the reservoirs levels needed to normalise and should that not happen, residents will continue to experience water shortage.
