RSR to investigate cause of fire at Kroonstad train crash

The Railway Safety Regulator (RSR) says it will delve deeper into the cause of the fire during last week’s train crash in the Free State.

The crash between a Shoshaloza Meyl train and a truck in Kroonstad left 19 people dead.
RSR CEO Dr Nomusa Qunta says the most of the people died as a result of the fire.

“We have consulted with the Minister (of Transport Joe Maswanganyi) that a board of inquiry needs to be established to look into the matter
