Rubber bullets fired at two Limpopo water protests

Five people were injured when police fired rubber bullets to disperse protesters in Modimolle in Limpopo on Friday.
Residents of Phagameng took to the streets and blocked roads, including the R101 between Modimolle and Mookgophong (Naboomspruit), to protest over water shortages.
"Rubber bullets were used to disperse the crowd in the Modimolle CBD after they did not heed our call to disperse. The five received treatment for minor injuries. The protests have quietened down and the protesters have dispersed," said spokeswoman Colonel Ronél Otto.
She added that the R101 had been opened for traffic.
Meanwhile, the R71 between Polokwane and Tzaneen has also been reopened after it was barricaded with rubble.
Police also fired rubber bullets to disperse protesters after the started pelting cars with stones.
Residents in the area were also protesting over water.
