SA on 62 coronavirus cases, Gauteng hardest hit
Gauteng is the hardest hit province in South Africa amid the local outbreak of coronavirus.
Health Minister Zweli Mkhize announced on Monday that the tally of Covid-19 infections has risen to 62.
Mkhize and the inter-ministerial committee convened on Monday in Pretoria to unpack President Cyril Ramaphosa's declaration of a national disaster.
Among the latest victims, Mkhize announced an additional 7 new cases in Gauteng while the Western Cape only sees an increases of 2 cases.
Mpumalanga now has 1 patient while Limpopo recorded its first case.
"We are also investigating another 4 but because of the system that we are using we will not give you all of those details right now but amongst them are those who are being tested from private laboratories and have to be verified by the National Health Laboratory Services," Mkhize said.
"We will not announced until they have been verified."

The measures were approved at a cabinet meeting earlier in the day. Ramaphosa also announced that 61 South Africans have now tested positive for the deadly virus. 1. A national state of disaster is declared in terms of the Disaster Management Act. 2. Travel ban on high-risk countries from March 18.
Mkhize added that the department is also investigating claims of local transmissions.
"It appears that there may be those who are internal transmissions.
"On top of that we need to go into the history and try and locate the exact source," he added.
