SA covid-19 positivity rate remains at 1%

The National Institute of Communicable Diseases (NICD) says the latest testing summary shows the percentage of people who tested positive for Covid-19 in the latest 24-hour period, was 1.1%.
This was 0.3% lower than the previous week.
The institute released the Covid-19 surveillance report for week 44, showing that the percentage testing positive was highest in those aged 15-19 years, followed by the 10-14 year age group.
On the Covid-19 stats, the institute reported 356 new cases in the 24 hours up to Thursday evening.
This brings the country's total number of laboratory-confirmed cases to 2 924 978.
An additional 17 Covid-19 related deaths have been reported, bringing total fatalities to 89 452.
The majority of new cases comes from Gauteng at 34%, followed by KwaZulu-Natal accounting for 19% of the new cases.
There has been an increase of 41 hospital admissions in the past 24 hours, with 3 636 people in both public and private health facilities.
