SA has 23,682 detectives says Minister

South Africa has 23,682 fully-trained detectives, Police Minister Nkosinathi Nhleko said on Friday.

In a written reply to a parliamentary question, tabled on Friday, he said 18,968 of them were men, and 4714 women.
Gauteng was the province with the most detectives -- a total of 5957 --while there were 3429 in KwaZulu-Natal, 3063 in the Western Cape, and 3057 in the Eastern Cape.
