SA has lost hope in police: report
Updated | By Slindelo Masikane
A new report shows that South Africans have lost all hope in the police.

Stats SA's latest victims of crime survey indicates that although crime has decreased, perceptions are that it is on the increase.
Since 2011 house-breaking, burglary and home robbery have consistently been the crime experienced by most households in the country.
Although crime has declined, South Africans are seemingly losing faith in the police and the justice system at an alarming rate
"There are many reasons why people say they can't report something, they have solved something themselves or the police can't do anything about it. The most common reason why people are not happy is they believe the courts are too lenient with criminals. 43 percent say the courts don't incarcerate criminals long enough," says Statistician General Pali Lehohla.

When it comes to corruption, 16.4 percent of households thought that gaining employment is the main reason for which bribes are solicited.
"We see that people think that they buy jobs," says Lehohla.
