The government has ramped up the Covid-19 vaccine rollout after a slow start and coming under fire for waiting too long.
According to the latest statistics released by the National Department of Health, 20% of the country’s adult population is now fully vaccinated.
However, the latest data shows that there was a lull in the number of people receiving their jabs on Monday, with only 154 199 inoculations given against the virus in the past 24 hours.
Gauteng is leading with 4 240 180 residents who have taken the vaccine, followed by KwaZulu-Natal and the Western Cape, where more than two million jabs have been given in each of the two provinces.
The Eastern Cape has passed the one million mark of its residents who have been vaccinated.
The Northern Cape is the province with the lowest number of vaccines thus far administered, standing at 317 158 jabs.
