SA record over 500 new Covid-19 cases
The National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD) has reported 533 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours.
Gauteng continues to account for majority of the cases in the latest increases and is also the only province reporting more than a 100 new daily infections.
This brings the country’s total confirmed cases to 2 921 114.
The institute says the increase represents a 1.7% positivity rate.
An additional 55 Covid-19 related deaths have been reported, bringing total fatalities to 89 104.
There has been an increase of 30 hospital admissions in the past 24 hours with 3 939 patients currently admitted in both public and private facilities.
On the vaccine front, 182 419 jabs were administered in the last 24 hours.
