SA shows decline in active coronavirus cases

The national Covid-19 statistics on Monday have shown a decline in the number of active cases over the last 24 hours.
The latest report by Health Minister, Zweli Mkhize, also shows an increase in the country’s recovery rate.
The total of coronavirus active cases currently stands at 192 035, while the country’s recovery rate has increased to 83%.
Mkhize’s report shows that 9 010 new cases were reported in the 24 hours leading up to Monday evening, bringing the number of Covid-19 cases to 1 346 935.
A further 344 Covid-19 deaths have been recorded, with KwaZulu-Natal recording a further 91 fatalities.

The Western Cape has recorded 88 deaths, while the Eastern Cape recorded 66 more fatalities and Gauteng has 63 more deaths.
In the Northern Cape, 13 more people succumbed to the deadly virus, while in Mpumalanga 12 fatalities have been reported and the Free State has only 11 fatalities.
The total number of Covid-19 deaths in the country now stands at 37 449.
