SA welcomes back travellers with a stable Covid-19 recovery rate

South Africa’s Covid-19 recovery rate remains at 90% - on the first morning of the country gradually reopening its borders to international travellers.
According to the latest report by Health Minister, Zweli Mkhize, a further 67 coronavirus related deaths were recorded in the 24-hour reporting cycle leading up to Wednesday evening.

KwaZulu-Natal reported another 37 deaths, while Gauteng recorded 11, the Western Cape 9 fatalities, the Free State 7 deaths and there were a further 3 deaths in the Eastern Cape.
This brings the total number of Covid-related deaths to 16 734.
Meanwhile, 1 767 new Covid-19 infections were recorded during the latest 24-hour cycle, bringing the total number of infections to 674 339.
