The South African Airways' Tlali Tlali has confirmed that the cash heist at the O.R. Tambo International Airport did not take place on board an aircraft, but rather in the cargo hold area.

"The robbery took place in the restricted section of the cargo area of the airport where cargo was being prepared to be transported on an SAA aircraft," Tlali says.
He reiterates that the robbery did not take place on board an aircraft.
"There were no delays of any nature yesterday and there are no delays this morning," he says.

This while acting police commissioner, Gen. Kgomotso Phahlane, sent a high level investigation team to investigate last night's robbery.
Neither the police, the Hawks, the Airports Company of South Africa or SAA are able to confirm reports that R24 million in US dollars was stolen.
The Hawks' Hangwani Mulaudzi says they can't confirm how much was stolen but that they are working alongside the Airports Company of South Africa in establishing the exact details of what happened.
"The investigation is underway and we are not at liberty to disclose what transpired as it might influence the investigation," he says.
