Two South African Airways (SAA) flight attendants have been arrested for allegedly attempting to smuggle 12 kilograms of cocaine into Hong Kong.
SAA spokesperson Tlali Tlali says the two cabin crew members were detained on separate occasions by Hong Kong custom officials last month.
"The two employees were operating on separate flights that were originating from Johannesburg to Hong Kong. "One was arrested on arrival in Honk Kong on the same date, the other one following an investigation that was carried out by the customs officials," confirms Tlali.
He adds that the duo have since appeared in a Hong Kong court and remain in police custody.
