SAA set to resume domestic flights mid-June
Updated | By Nokukhanya N Mntambo
South African Airways (SAA) says it expects to take to the skies again in mid-June for domestic flights between Johannesburg and Cape Town.

This comes after President Cyril Ramaphosa’s decision to move the country to alert level 3, easing certain regulations, including travel.
SAA, which is under business rescue, suspended all commercial passenger flights in late March when the government imposed a Covid-19 lockdown.
The airline’s Tlali Tlali says SAA is committed to restart operations.
“Accordingly, SAA is focusing on ensuring operational readiness to resume flights once permissible.”

Tlali adds regional and international flights will remain grounded.
“Many restrictive rules and regulations still apply to civil aviation across the world.
“On this basis, it is not yet possible to resume operations beyond South Africa’s borders in a sustainable manner,” says Tlali.
“For those customers holding unused SAA tickets for these flights, there is no need to contact the airline at this time.
“All customers will be able to use their ticket’s full value as a credit for travel on any SAA service up to an including 24th March 2022.”
